The Foundation

Who We Are / About Us

Global Hope for Women and Children Foundation (GLOHWOC) is a women-led, feminist non-governmental organization committed to strengthening community systems and advancing equitable access to health, social, and justice services in Nigeria.

We work through strong community networks, social mobilisation structures, and advocacy platforms to improve routine immunisation uptake, primary health care utilisation, and access to essential social services. By engaging households, caregivers, traditional and religious leaders, youth groups, and women’s associations, GLOHWOC increases community knowledge, builds trust in public systems, and stimulates sustained demand for quality services through evidence-based social and behaviour change communication.

GLOHWOC also strengthens community feedback, accountability, and referral mechanisms by supporting timely reporting, documentation, and linkages between communities and government service providers. This ensures that underserved populations—particularly women, children, and adolescents—receive responsive, uninterrupted, and survivor-centred services.

Beyond service delivery, GLOHWOC works in the advocacy and movement-building space, mobilising civil society organisations, grassroots women’s groups, and policy influencers to demand reforms that promote dignity, equality, and social justice. We exist to bridge the gap between community voices and decision-making spaces, ensuring women and marginalised groups are not excluded from governance, leadership, and development processes.

For over two decades, GLOHWOC has been at the forefront of advancing the rights, wellbeing, and agency of women, children, and other vulnerable populations in Nigeria. We currently work across eleven states—Kwara, Kogi, Plateau (North Central); Kaduna and Jigawa (North West); Borno (North East); and Osun, Ogun, and Lagos (South West). Our programmes address sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), access to education and livelihoods, and governance and accountability for social justice.

Our feminist approach centres women’s leadership, voices, and lived experiences across all programming. Survivors and marginalised groups are not treated merely as beneficiaries, but as active agents and drivers of change.
